Social Star

Hi everyone!

So a while ago I read about this amazing opportunity with Jo-Ann Strauss partnering with Samsung. It's about searching for South Africa's biggest online star. Then I scrolled down and continued with my hectic schedule.

But.. it continued to haunt me. Then I read up on it more and I loved the concept. Plus I'm a huge fan of Jo-Ann Strauss ever since was was Miss SA!! So at first I wasn't going to apply because I'd get so much anxiety just thinking about it. But I always encourage you guys take take up new opportunities and to be the best version of yourself and to make the best of 2015!

So I bit the bullet and SUBMITTED it. Which is the best step in taking any chances!

I hope it inspires you guys!!

Love,

20 facts about me!

Hi everyone!

I’m happy to announce that this is my 100th post! I seriously don’t know how I got here! I literally started taking blogging seriously last year. It was a secret creative outlet for me and I love being part of this ever growing blogging community! Hopefully from here we can continue to produce good content and learn more tricks!

So today I thought I’d do a facts about me post so that you can get to know me better.

1.       My mom is my best friend
2.       I think I suffer from a fear of being abandoned (don’t know why)
3.       I can stand up for myself but I’m terrified of confrontation
4.       Even though it’s tragic, I set up reminders to watch Air Crash Investigation and Seconds from Disaster. I’m just fascinated by how investigations work
5.       I’m an extreme ‘high walls’ person but through my blog I’ve been able to open up and be myself more.
6.       I’m terrified of nail fractures. I think bone fractures scare me less.
7.       I have a brother and 2 adopted sisters.
8.       I find Terrence J extremely sexy
9.       I would rather watch action movies than chick flicks. I just don’t think I’ll go through all the trouble of getting popcorn for a movie that contains no guns.
10.   I just can’t watch ‘the fault in our stars’ just like I can’t watch ‘my sister’s keeper’. Too emotional I hear.
11.   I’ve never had froyo (need to change that soon!)
12.   I prefer isolation than being around people all the time
13.   I don’t drink/smoke
14.   Extremely terrified of bees and snakes
15.   Everything I know about psychos I got from the University of Criminal Minds on Fox Crime.
16.   I sometimes I wish was a hacker. Don’t know what it is about them. They’re just the definition of cool. I think it’s mainly from how it was portrayed by Aldis Hodge from Leverage
17.   I like flowers so I always try to buy them wherever I live.
18.   I have a 3 year old driver’s licence that I never got to use because my mom is scared that I’ll hurt her car.
19.   I got my licence on my first try.
20.   I love Jesus #JesusArmy

I hope these facts brought us a step closer! I'm looking forward to the next 100 posts!! Thank you for reading!

How writing can help you speak up

Hi everyone!

As you know I grew up quite shy and very behind the scenes. Even though that might still be the case today I think it’s a lot better than what it used to be. I can now communicate without being too anxious and I can also be funny and not as socially awkward.

It’s been a long journey but I can definitely say that having a blog has helped me speak up. I believe that even though shy people say that they have nothing to say, it’s not really true. They just have nothing to say out loud. And I’ve been there. So I had something to say but it just wouldn’t go past my lips.

Here’s why I think writing can help you speak up:

·         Have a writing platform. You don’t need a blog. You need pen and paper/laptop. The hardest part is to get the ball rolling. Write about something close to your heart.

·         Emotions. Writing can be quite emotional. Especially if you’re a person that bottles things up or absorbs a lot of emotions, this could give you the freedom to finally express yourself.

·         Release. I believe the biggest part about setting something free is for it to longer be in your heart. Before blogging, I had a diary and shortly before that I used to write letters on a blank page and after pouring everything into it, I’d burn it. It’s really therapeutic.

·         Another one. If you feel like writing that first letter didn’t aid you in any way, that’s okay. Write another one. This time directed to a person. We all have something to say to each other. Now, put it in a letter. Especially when you can’t say it to the person’s face.

·         Now Speak. Start with smaller groups. You’ll have to fabricate the confidence though. Speaking is easy when the conversation is about things that you are interested in. You have opinions and views because it’s something you think about all the time. Now let it be heard.

·         Engage. Being part of groups really helps but there comes a time when it’s your turn to make other shy people come out of their shell. Bring people together with similar interests to yours. You don’t even have to do it face to face. These days there’s twitter chats and Facebook groups and things like that that has made it real easy for people with similar interests to connect!

What are you waiting for?

How to keep your dreams alive

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone’s good!! In the past week I’ve gone through a lot of emotions. I think most of them were pure anxiety and I have to express how tiring it is. But I’ve kept my head down and continued working. However a voice inside of me kept creeping through
…this is NOT where you belong..

I feel so suffocated and if given the chance I would either let out a scream of frustration or just weep like Mary.
So with our new client I was brought in to replace a colleague because he wasn’t being effective (or so I was told) so coming in I already had so much doubt and confusion and one feeling that was at 90% was definitely RESISTENCE.

It’s been 2 weeks now and even though it’s a work in progress I just find myself so left-handed. I have so many things to do and I feel like I’m working without any assistance on work I’ve never done before. Every day I just want to resign just so that I can get a break but it just seems like there’s a lot of negative consequences to doing that.

So I dream. And try to plan. Even if it’s a small dream and a small plan. Just so that I don’t feel so lost. I’m turning 24 in about 2 months and I’m really looking forward to big changes. So in this process I’ve learnt a couple of things.

·         Always stay in touch with things that are in line with what you want to do. Either through social media platforms or people that are involved in it. This keeps the conversation going in your mind. And you never get left behind.
·         Allocate time. There’s never enough time in a day to get everything done. However if you have a set schedule it’s easier to get things done because I’m one of those people who don’t know when I woke up and what I did all day by the time I get to bed. I mean what a waste of time!
·         Take Risks. This is the hardest part but honestly there are just no rewards without it! It’s really about identifying opportunities and just grabbing them with both hands. There’s a lot of things that can go wrong, obviously, but the point should be that you attempted something. Not that you won or became victorious in it.
·         Be authentic. How can people take you seriously if you always do half-baked things? It’s so easy to just become average but we’ve been made to be more than that. So never do things for the sake of doing it, let everything that you do be a true reflection of what you’re passionate about and what you’re trying to let people know about you.
·         Pen it. Being a full time employee in a field that require accuracy and full focus it’s not easy to make time to do what I love so in order to keep my dreams alive I just write stuff down whenever the idea comes to me so that I don’t forget it. In that way it’s always in my mind.
·         Repeat it. A dream dies when no-one talks about it. It’s a fire that you need to keep fanning so that it doesn’t die out. So if your dreams are under your blanket or in your pocket – that is where they’ll always remain. Always work towards them. At night. Over the weekend. Anywhere, anytime.
·         Your people. Stop wasting time with people that only want to gossip all day long. I mean it’s good to laugh with friends and have wine and snacks but you can’t be wasting your time with that all day long. Have a quick meaningful catch up sesh and then it’s back to the hustle.

It’s hard work to keep dreaming but without hope we’re just waiting around to die. So always reach for something. There’s always the next level, the next opportunity!

Fresh Energy {A Review}

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone is well. During my last stock up I decided to try new things. I work out of town now and I have to live out of my bag so I can only take essentials. Being in this environment it can get quite rough on your health and beauty habits. So I decided to add to my skincare collection!

My new client is based in a very dry, hot and humid area so I've been wearing minimal make-up and I'm always tired after work so cleaning up my face can be quite daunting. So when I saw the Simple exfoliating wipes I just had to give them a try. I've also seen Shirley and Suzi use them so I was curious to get into the hype.

Amazing product! It's extremely effective and not harsh to my skin. I really hope they re-stock them because they will now become part of my out of town suitcase! Each pack has 25 wipes which is more than enough for roughly a full work month. Definitely a mush have! I was also excited to see that they have other products that I'll definitely be trying in future!

My normal exfoliator was running out and I had the option between the Garnier scrub and face wash or Neutrogena, and I'm glad I decided to go with the one I wasn't sure about because it's currently exceeding ALL my expectations. The pink one was originally my first choice but because it's summer I'm all about the greens and its freshness. I've been having a lot of issues with my face lately and I really just feel clear and fresh after using my new scrub. Definitely a hit!

I found my wipes at PicknPay and I'm sure they can be found at Clicks and Dischem as well. Try it out!

What has your experience been with Neutrogena?
